TruDrape builds a metrically accurate 3D body model and a personal "fit fingerprint" in about six minutes, using only your phone and a bank card. Then it tells you which size to buy, in any brand, on any store, for the way you like clothes to fit.
Wrong size or poor fit is the single largest reason clothes are returned. Every return costs the retailer shipping both ways, handling, inspection and often a markdown. A mid-size UK retailer handling 50,000 returns a year at £10–20 each carries a seven-figure bill caused almost entirely by shoppers not knowing which size to pick.
A questionnaire here, a single photo there, a height-and-weight guess somewhere else. A single reference photo gives correct scale at one depth only; the chest, waist and hips sit at different depths and get scaled wrong.
Each store's tool asks the same questions again, knows nothing about the other places you shop, and the long tail of small brands never installs one at all. A medium here, a large there, and you still guess at every new site.
Ease is the room between your body and the garment. Two people with identical chests can want 4 cm and 12 cm of room in a shirt, and both are right. No current tool captures this.
The novelty is in how the profile is captured and what it records, not in inventing new AI. Raw video never leaves your phone.
Prop your phone about two metres away and hold any bank card against six body regions while a short video records. Because every payment card is the same size everywhere in the world, it acts as a true ruler at the exact depth of the part being measured.
3–4 MIN · CIRCUMFERENCES & LENGTHS TO ISO 8559 LANDMARKSLay three to five clothes you love the fit of flat, card beside them, and take one photo each. TruDrape measures the garment the way brands do (pit-to-pit, sleeve, inseam) and subtracts your body to learn how much room you actually like, per category.
2 MIN · BUILDS YOUR FIT FINGERPRINTOn any product page the extension reads the size guide, whatever format it is in, adds your preferred ease to your body dimensions, scores every size, and tells you in one plain sentence which to buy and how it will feel.
INSTANT · LEARNS FROM EVERY "DID IT FIT?"Card flat against the side of the head, top edge level with the ear. This fixes your height and the camera distance; every later station is refined against it.
Slide the card slowly across the fullest part of the chest, then breathe in and out. The card's shape in each frame reveals the curve of the surface beneath it.
From the shoulder joint down the outside of the arm to the wrist bone, both sides, then arms out 30° for the underarm point.
Around the natural waist front to back, then held where your waistband normally sits, so trousers are recommended for where you actually wear them.
From the fullest point of the hip down the outside of the leg to the ankle, both sides, then feet apart for the crotch point.
A full 360° over about twelve seconds. This gives front-to-back depth for every region, turning widths into true circumferences, and captures posture.
It is the one precisely dimensioned object almost every adult already carries. Flat face, sharp edges and high-contrast corners make it easy for a camera to find, and its known size converts pixels to millimetres at whatever distance it is from the lens.
A single reference object is only correct at one distance. TruDrape holds the card against each region being measured, so every region gets its own true metric anchor at its own depth, and the model is scaled per region rather than by one global factor. That is what makes the scan robust on inexpensive phones and in poor light.
Nobody else has this data object, because it cannot be produced by scanning a body or by watching purchases inside one store. It becomes more accurate with every garment added, and it belongs to you.
| Category | Chest ease | Waist ease | Sleeve vs arm | Confidence |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| Formal shirt | +8 cm | +10 cm | +1 cm | High · 3 garments |
| T-shirt | +2 cm | +6 cm | n/a | Medium · 2 garments |
| Jeans | n/a | +1 cm | inseam 79 cm | High · 2 garments |
| Jacket / blazer | +12 cm | +14 cm | +2 cm | Low · 1 garment |
Example fingerprint. Ease = garment dimension − body dimension, attached to your own "just right / slightly loose / slightly tight" rating.
This brand's M will fit closer through the chest than your usual shirts (about 5 cm of room instead of your preferred 8 cm). If you want your usual fit, choose L; the sleeves will be about 1 cm longer than your favourite shirt.
You don't wait for retailers to integrate. The extension detects a clothing product page, finds the size guide, whether it is a table, an image, a pop-up or a PDF, and matches it to your profile.
Both applications were filed with the UK Intellectual Property Office on 14 September 2026 and cover the capture method and the fit-calibration model at the heart of TruDrape.
The moving-reference capture method: per-region metric calibration from an ordinary phone camera, with no depth sensor, by holding a known-size object against each body region in turn.
The fit fingerprint: using a wearer's own garments and fit ratings to correct systematic measurement error and derive the ease allowances that person prefers, then applying them to size selection.
"Patent pending" means the applications have been filed and are awaiting examination. The capture method makes the product cheap and reliable; the defensible asset is the fit-outcome dataset that grows with every scan and every purchase.
TruDrape launches in the United Kingdom first, with the EU and the Gulf to follow. Join the waitlist and we'll invite you as soon as the app and extension are ready in your country.
